Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges Park

What is Mistico Park?
Mistico is a private rainforest park on the road from La Fortuna to Lake Arenal, with its entrance next to the lake dam. Its trail mixes forest paths with fixed and hanging bridges, so you see the rainforest both from the ground and from the treetops.
The trail and the bridges
The trail is about 3.2 km long and has 16 bridges. Six are hanging bridges, the highest up to 45 meters above the forest floor, and the rest are fixed bridges over streams and ravines. The walk is moderate, with some slopes and steps.
What you can see
Wildlife is never guaranteed, but the park reports more than 350 bird species, and the canopy is where many animals feed:
- Views of Arenal Volcano from the bridges
- Toucans, hummingbirds and other birds
- Howler and capuchin monkeys
- Giant trees, epiphytes and flowers of the rainforest
Morning or afternoon?
Our Mistico Hanging Bridges Tour leaves La Fortuna at 8:40 a.m. or 1:40 p.m. The morning walk usually has more active birds, and the afternoon departure ends at a hot river with a volcanic mud mask.
How to get there
From La Fortuna, take Route 142 toward Lake Arenal; the entrance is next to the lake dam. On our tour you do not need a car: round-trip transport from downtown La Fortuna and nearby areas, park entrance and a bilingual guide are included.
